- How do you feel about teenagers using social media including snap chat?
My two teenagers have basic cell phone service and we blocked the Internet including MMS photos. I don’t approve of my teenagers using social media with the exception of Facebook and with that comes strict rules. If they are caught using snap chat on someone else’s phone, they will be in big trouble. We had a police officer that came into our church and told us that teenagers love using snapchat to take naughty photos. What they don’t know is their friends can capture those photos within the time frame and share them. Kids who get caught sending naughty photos can be charged with a sex crime and this wouldn’t be something that they want to carry around for the rest of their lives.
- Do you approve of your teenagers friends?
I haven’t met a ton of my kid’s friends; however, I think my son may have a few friends who urge him to do dumb things such as the salt and ice challenge. After that incident we had a talk about the type of friends that he is hanging around. I haven’t personally met any of them. My kid’s hardly invite their friends over to the house because we are typically busy on the weekends.
- If you could give your teenager once piece of advice, what would it be?
I want my kids to learn how to make the right decisions on their own and I hope they realize that they will make mistakes but that it is okay. We aren’t perfect and I don’t expect them to be.
- Do you approve of your teenagers music choices?
I approve of most of my kid’s music choices. Overall, I don’t give them a choice to listen to what they want in the car. I am not a fan of some of the new music and the message that it portrays so we listen to Christian and occasionally Disney stuff.
