AAF Co-host
This week I swapped with Tia from BecominNeurotic. This is our second time to swap and we wanted to do something a bit special this round. We both suffer from chronic pain and wanted to share a little glimpse of our lives with our readers.

  1. We both live with chronic pain. What is one thing (non-medication) that can always take your mind off the pain?

I have several things that I do to try to take my mind off my pain. My list includes: writing, connecting on social media, playing games on my phone, reading, listening to music, or snuggling with my husband or kids.

  1. What is the best advice someone has ever given you that has really helped you cope?

The best advice that I have learned over the last few years is to let your spouse know when you aren’t feeling well, learn how to say “no”, and to connect with other spoonies.

  1. When you’re having a good day, what is your favorite thing to do?

I enjoy doing things with my family like going to the park, sitting outside to watch the kids play, and stuff that requires a bit more walking. I am hoping that my new medications will help my pain levels so that I can be a bit more active

  1. What are 5 must have items you would recommend to fellow spoonies?
  • A smart phone, tablet, or laptop.
  • An ice pack for the rough days.
  • A microwave heat pack (great for sinus headaches too)
  • Invest in a Tens Unit.
  • A pillow top memory foam mattress topper.
  • Bonus: Use disposable items as much as possible such as spoons, paper plates, ect. It will make less chores for you later. I also use microwave meals for lunch.
  1. What new activity or hobby have you picked up since you became a spoonie?

I have started blogging after I got laid off. I tried doing it while I was working and didn’t have the time it took to write. I never imagined being where I am today. :)  I also started reading more books. It is a great way to pass the time.
