Ashley Judd Gave Her First On-Camera Interview About Harvey Weinstein

Ashley Judd sat down with ABC’s Diane Sawyer for Good Morning America to talk about outing Harvey Weinstein as an “alleged” (*eye-roll*) drooling pig cretin pervface. Ashley was one of the first of what now appears to be dozens upon dozens of women finally speaking out about Harv. How Diane didn’t vom hearing first-hand about Harvey’s allegedly decades-long attempts to groom young women as his personal masseuses and/or sexy shower surveillance is baffling. Is there a word more emphatic than “cringe?” “Shudder?” “Retch” is pretty good.

Diane asked Ashley if she ever thought she’d be telling this story publicly (via People).

“It’s been an absolutely, tremendously moving two-and-a-half or three weeks,” she said in an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer. “I talked with my dad and I talked with my mom and told them I was thinking [about speaking out] and she said, ‘Go get him.’ ”

Having no warning or foreknowledge that Harvey had consent issues, she knew something was wrong when the hotel’s concierge told her that Harv was waiting for her in his room for what she’d been told was a “business meeting.” Because talking production deals and acting gigs on the bed or in the shower is optimum for business ventures.

“I had no warning … I remember the lurch when I went to the desk and I said, ‘Mr. Weinstein, is he on the patio?’ and they said, ‘No, he’s in his room,’” she recalled of the incident, which allegedly took place nearly 20 years ago. “I was like, ‘Ugh, are you kidding me?’ [But I went because] I had a business appointment. That’s his pattern of sexual predation. That’s how he rolled.”

Ashley discovered that Henry is absent any knowledge of what “no” means.

“I fought with this volley of ‘no’s’ which he ignored. Who knows, maybe he heard them as ‘maybe.’ Maybe he heard them as ‘yes’s.’ Maybe they turned him on. I don’t know.”

When Harvey tried to bring her into the bedroom to pick out his suit for the day (ugh, he can’t even perv creatively), Ashley decided it was time to get out of there.

Judd recalled how she got herself out of the situation by promising she’d help him pick out his suit for the day, “When I win an Oscar in one of your movies.”

“He’s like, ‘Yeah, when you get nominated.’ I said, ‘No! When I win an Oscar.’ And then I just fled.’ ”

Diane asked her about her decision to flee.

“Am I proud of that? I’m of two minds: The part that shames myself says no. The part of me that understands the way shame works says, ‘That was absolutely brilliant. Good job, kid. You got out of there. Well done.’”

Damn right, good job! By any means necessary. Tell him that all his suits suck and you’re leaving to buy him a new one. Fake explosive diarrhea. Fashion the bedsheets into a rope and rappel out of that shit. There’s no shame in the “Getting The Fuck Away From Harvey” game.

Ashley also had a message for Harvey:

“What I would say to Harvey is, I love you and I understand you are sick and suffering…And there is help for a guy like you too, and it is entirely up to you to get that.”
