Ascendant Studios Delays the Release Immortals of Aveum to “add more PC functionality” and Work on Feedback

The July release of Immortals of Aveum has been pushed by a month to August 22nd. The magic-themed first person shooter (FPS) is being developed by Ascendant Studios and it’ll be published by Electronic Arts. According to a blog post, The release date was postponed because the developers wanted to add some more PC functionalities among other things. The game has garnered a lot of enthusiasm during the PlayStation Showcase at the Summer Game Fest.

The post said, “As you know, this is our first game as a self-funded independent studio. We set out five years ago to ambitiously make an original Magic FPS in a new fantasy world. Along the way, we worked through a pandemic, built a new team, developed on Unreal Engine 5.1 and pushed the boundaries of what we thought was possible. Now, the finish line is in sight.”

The studio has said that they are delaying the release to work on some feedback they have received. That’s surely a good sign. They want to “realize their full vision” before launching the game into the world.

This will give us time to further polish the game, finish optimizing all platforms, and deliver a strong launch. We owe it to ourselves and to you to get this right,” they wrote.

Immortals of Aveum is notably the first Unreal Engine 5 Game to come out. The game can be compared with games like Hexen and Heretic in spirit. But we can’t say it derives a lot from those.

According to reviewer Ryan McCaffrey, the dialog is not the best. In fact, it might even bite into your gaming experience unless the “magic-fueled” combat engrosses you so much that you are able to bear with the dialog by the lead character and others.
