Artist vs Architect 2013
Artists, architects, and patrons filled the lobby gallery of One Arts Plaza last Thursday to raise money for Family Compass through healthy competition and creative collaboration. Shiny spot-lit Fiats stationed around the fountains welcomed guests as they arrived at the mixed-use high-rise in the Dallas Arts District, and cocktails sponsored by Veev were passed upon entering the elegant indoor space. The event itself raised over $10,000 for Family Compass, a passionate local non-profit whose mission is to build healthy families and a strong community by preventing child abuse and neglect.
This was the second-annual Artist Versus Architect event, inspired by the ingenuity of today’s artistic and design professionals. A panel of experts in the field of art and architecture chose both well-known and emerging local professionals to showcase their works with their industry peers, resulting in a diverse yet symbiotic display of creativity, culture, and skill. Artists and architects participating included Connor Frew, Carolyn Collins, Riley Holloway, Hai Nguyen, Alejandro Diaz, Ali Golzad, Kyle Confehr, JC Barba, Kevin Page, Leonard Volk, Alisa Levy, and Valarie Evans, Andrew Cortez, Sean O’Brien, Gardner Vass, Amador Saucedo, Michael Malone, Meredith Quigley, Hilda Rodriguez, Randal Ehm, Regan Holton, Brandon Burns, Eddie Fortuna, Gary Angle.
Even better news is that there is STILL TIME TO BID on the beautiful pieces of art displayed at the event. An e-auction that began on the 19th continues through this Saturday, November 23rd at 12pm NOON. Click here for a pdf catalog of the remaining pieces of art available, and for instructions on how to bid: http://d31hzlhk6di2h5.cloudfront.net/20131119/fb/fb/73/c6/6542c9b3b10df4609a38c545/AvA_E-Auction_2013.pdf. You may also view the pieces currently in display in the commercial lobby of One Arts Plaza at 1722 Routh Street.
