Now signed to Alcopop! Records, Art Brut have announced details of new album ‘Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out’, a UK tour and a cracking new video for ‘Hospital’. The record will be released on 23 November.
Inspired by Eddie Argos’ experiences in a German hospital (‘the most undignified month of my life’), it finds the frontman vowing to change his ways for the better when he finally gets released: ‘When I get out of the hospital, I’m never going back at all’; ‘I’m gonna stay away from drink and drugs’ while his fellow bandmates join in with the conversation: ‘When he gets out of the hospital, he’s gonna live forever. We’re gonna put him back together’.
Eddie is very grateful to the surgeons and nurses for saving his life and looking after him but this song, with its call-and-response lyrics keeping him entertained on the endless days, became his mantra for getting out: ‘Strip the beds and burn the sheets. I’m not returning’; ‘They tried to make me go to rehab and I said that’s probably a very good idea.’
The eggs-quisite accompanying video, directed by Benny P, is no yolk as it follows Eggie Argos as he tries to avoid getting smashed.
