The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), conducting investigations into the arson attack on the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Kollupitiya Fifth Lane,
when he was the Prime Minister, has arrested a former Kotte Municipal Council (KMC) member on suspicion, of the attack.
The CID stated that the suspect the 50 year old suspect is a member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
The CID said that the suspect, who is a resident of Thalawathugoda Road in Pitakotte, was arrested for the attack on the President’s private residence located at Fifth Lane, causing damage, aiding and abetting in the incident.The house located on Fifth Lane was set on fire during July 9 unrests last year.
