Hambegamuwa Police have found a fake Criminal Investigation Department (CID) ID in the wallet of a suspect arrested for sexually assaulting a woman. This 32-year-old man, a resident of Mylawela, Hambegamuwa, was arrested on June 9.
A senior police officer stated that the fake ID card in this person’s wallet was marked as CID with his picture and the logo of the state Sri Lanka Police.
The person was identified as T.Nalaka and in the forged ID card too his name was mentioned as Chief Inspector Nalaka. Police said that investigations are underway to find out whether the suspect has engaged in crimes using this fake ID.
