Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (9) ordered the issuance of warrants to the former Inter-University Student Federation Convener Lahiru Weerasekera, who did not appear in court when a case of violation of court orders was called in open court.
Warrants were also issued to Ven.Tempitiye Sugathananda Thera, Inter-University Bhikku Balamandalaya convener who was not present in the court when the case was called.
Sugathananda Thera, who came to the court late, appeared before court through a motion and the magistrate, who strongly warned the Thera, ordered the recall of the warrant issued against him.
The Magistrate said that the case was called nine times and that the suspects avoided the courts citing different reasons and informed that if they do not appear on the next day, bail of both will be cancelled and they will be remanded.
