In parallel to the Government’s implementation of the Green Lanka National Horticulture Drive, the inauguration of gardening at the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters Premises got underway today (29) with the participation of the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Centre, General Shavendra Silva.
The program, entitled “Sustainable Establishment – Let’s Start From Garden ”, commenced on all island Army camp premises. Simultaneously, the program was commenced at Diyatalawa, Panagoda Kandakadu, Kilinochchi, Akkarayakulam, Mullaitivu, Karandeniya, Vellankulam, Adiyapuliyankulam, Thambuththegama, Mahawa, Menik Farm, Niraviya and Kankesanthurai Army farms.
Also, the Army has launched an organic fertilizer production project in association with Army camps located islandwide, giving its fullest contribution to the promotion of organic fertilizer production in the country.
