Verdict on Area Boy
Area Boy is a short drama following a teenage boy preparing to be baptised. He looks to meet people like him and soon starts to discover a different life, as he looks to start a new one.
This is a movie exploring the themes of acceptance and being proud of being different. It touches on a few serious subject matters in a limited time. We get to see how Eli wants to be different but is scared and must overcome those fears.
I always like to look at short movies and think whether we could see a full feature. This is one movie where we could explore this journey a lot more. We get a great cast with young Joshua Cameron giving an excellent leading performance.
Final Thoughts –Area Boy is an excellent story, a wonderfully performed short movie.
