Hello everyone! It seems like it has been forever since I last sat down and wrote a blog post- maybe because it has....I normally don't fall off the face of social media for more than a week, but these past two weeks of constant travel were simply insane. Now that it is Wednesday and I've had a few days to get my life together (aka going to school, sending things home, and editing photos), I've finally gotten around to putting together one of many photo diaries. I actually have hundreds upon hundreds of photos, and the photo sets from the Balearic Islands will probably be in multiple parts, and then there also some outfits on the way! Hope you enjoy. xoxo
The first part of our #wildspringbreak adventures included a week spent in the Basque Country with school. Before this trip, I honestly had never heard of this "country" that is basically on the frontier between France and Spain. Throughout the whole week, we hopped from country to country to easily that I didn't noticed where we were until I heard the language. Our trip began with an afternoon stop to Arcachon, a beach town that I actually went to a few years ago with Putney. We walked around the boardwalk and the Winter town before continuing onto our base of Guéthary, which was a random town but it had some gorgeous landscapes. The next day we took a bit of an excursion to Biarritz, which was such a beautiful place along the water. In addition to the vast beaches, there were mini rock formations with water crashing upon them and many unique boutiques to discover. Despite having had a half day there, we all wished we could stay longer and walk along the coast. On the following day, we went for a different type of visit to Bilbao and the Guggenheim museum there. After poking around the extensive museum, we had some free time, so my friend Carolyn and I walked around a nearby park and grabbed lunch, but the general verdict was that we didn't love the city.
Towards the end of our trip, there was a day that was split into a group of hikers and the other a group of foodies. Despite trying to do the hiking group, there was apparently a list that I didn't sign up on, so I decided to join the "cake" group. The day actually turned out better than I thought, including a visit to a writer's house, a trip up La Rhune, a Basque cake tasting, and market hopping. Within the last three days, I tried 3 different types of Basque cake and the one we had this day was by far the best. While we spent a full week with school in what at first felt like the middle of nowhere, this portion of break went so quickly, and before I knew it, I was going to Barcelona with my friends. Having this last big trip before our small Normandy trip at the end of May was a bittersweet end of year last shebang. We did so many more things than what I mentioned above, but I don't want to bore you all, haha. Barcelona, Ibiza, and Mallorca recaps coming soon! xoxo
