The month of April is National Pet Month and is full of holidays that remind pet parents why we love our animals and how important it is to give them the best care. April is also Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month so you will find a lot of pet stores accepting donations for local rescues and shelters. April is also considered National Pet First Aid Awareness Month and some pet owners arelearning CPR for their pets and brushing up safety procedures.
It is important to brush up on pet health, care and socialization. April is a great time to do those things you have been putting off- like micro chipping, registering your animal, donating to animal control, socializing pets with kids and buying a life jacket for safe swimming with your dog. The over all theme of the month is to be aware, be safe and love your pets!

Since April is the beginning of flea and tick season and pets are spending more time outside it is the perfect time to pay some extra attention to their needs. Spring time is a great time to do more activities with your dog but make sure you are doing things safely. Learn about safe cycling with your dog to prevent injury. Make sure you are embarking on safe hiking trip with your dog by learning about local wildlife.
