World Wish Day®
-- An annual day of recognition and celebration of the wish granted to Chris Greicius in 1980 that inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish and its mission. Since then, the Make-A-Wish community has grown to over 45,000 volunteers and 30,000 wishes globally every year. For children battling a critical illness, a wish is not just a dream. A wish-come-true can be a turning point in their lives. It can give children the emotional and physical strength to keep going – to fight harder against their illness. Wishes allow children and their families to focus on the possibilities of tomorrow and not on the challenges of today.
Read: Once Upon a Wish
-- Sometimes all it takes is one special day, one magical moment, one fulfilled wish to learn how to laugh and be a child again. For decades, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has granted wishes worldwide to children battling life-threatening illnesses, shedding light on worlds darkened by disease, and bringing hope to children and their families.

Prince William And Kate's First Wedding Anniversary (2011)
- Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London, United Kingdom. The wedding was widely broadcast on television, the internet, and radio, in more than 180 countries. Despite reports the couple would leave for their honeymoon the day after their wedding, Prince William immediately returned to his work as a search-and-rescue pilot, and the couple did not depart for their honeymoon until May 9th, ten days after their wedding - for 10 days on a secluded villa on a private island in Seychelles.

James Cook lands at Botany Bay (1770)
- The first voyage of James Cook was a combined Royal Navy and Royal Society expedition to the south Pacific Ocean aboard HMS Endeavour, from 1768 to 1771. The aims of the expedition were to observe the 1769 transit of Venus across the Sun (3–4 June of that year) and to seek evidence of the postulated Terra Australis Incognita or unknown southern land. In April 1770, they became the first Europeans to reach the east coast of Australia, making landfall on the shore of what is now known as Botany Bay.
