National Read Me Day
-- Book'em, a local children's literacy organization, celebrated its annual Read Me Day. Read Me Day is Book'em's annual celebration of the importance and fun of reading. In 2006, Book'em joined forces with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the largest children's literacy organization in the United States. Today, Book'em administers the RIF program in 17 Title I Metro Nashville elementary schools and is working to be able to serve more schools in the future. The RIF program serves over 4,000 children a year through a network of more than 275 volunteers, distributing 18,000+ books annually.

- William Shakespeare (baptized 26 April 1564; died 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.

- In 1872, cream cheese was invented by an American dairyman, William Lawrence of Chester, N.Y., who accidentally developed a method of producing cream cheese while trying to reproduce a French cheese called Neufchatel. William Lawrence distributed his brand in foil wrappers from 1880 under the name of the Empire Company. He called his cheese PHILADELPHIA Brand Cream Cheese, now a famous trademark. His company the Empire Cheese Company of South Edmeston, New York, manufactured the cream cheese.
