Apple has announced that it will hold its annual World Developer Conference in an online format starting June 22, and will offer free access to all developers through the Apple Developer app and the Apple Developer website. The company also announced the Swift Student Challenge, an opportunity for all students to demonstrate their love for programming and develop their own Swift playground. On its thirty-first anniversary, WWDC20 represents a great opportunity for millions of creative and innovative developers from around the world to peek into the future of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS before anyone else, and to interact with the engineers at Apple and learn from their work in developing apps that enrich the lives of Apple customers around the world.

“This edition of WWDC20 will be the largest so far, and will bring together more than 23 million developers from around the world in an unpublished format for an entire week, in June, to discuss the future of Apple platforms,” explains Phil Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Apple. “We are very eager to meet virtually in June with the global community of developers and share with all of them the tools we have been working on to help them develop even more amazing apps and services, and as we get closer to this important event we would be happy to share with you all more details about WWDC20 ”.

“Students are an essential part of the Apple developer community, and last year WWDC was attended by more than 350 programming students from 37 different countries,” says Craig Federighi, senior vice president of Apple Software Engineering. “While we will meet virtually this year, WWDC20 will give us a new opportunity to recognize and celebrate the creative contributions of young developers around the world. I am looking forward to seeing this new generation of innovative thinkers bring their ideas to life through the Swift Student Challenge. ”
