Apple has a strong quarter despite the coronavirus, Impossible Foods is coming to Walmart and NASA launches a new rover on Mars. Here is your Daily Crunch for July 30, 2020.

The big story: Apple exceeds third quarter expectations

Apple's latest earnings report suggests that the company is thriving despite COVID-19, with revenues of $ 59.69 billion in the third quarter of the fiscal year. It is significantly above the analysts' $ 52.25 billion forecast and reflects 11% year-over-year growth.

This isn't the first time Apple has reported profits since coronavirus became a part of our lives, but Q3 was its first quarter to occur entirely during the pandemic.

The company also announced a four-by-one stock split scheduled for late August, through which Apple investors will receive three more shares for each share they already own, with the individual shares becoming correspondingly cheaper.

The giants of technology

Amazon claims that police requests for customer data have increased - Figures show that in the first half of 2020, Amazon received 23% more lawsuits and search warrants than in the first half of 2019.

Checkout of the PayPal QR code and Venmo will reach 8,200 CVS stores in the fourth quarter - CVS will become the first national retailer to allow customers to pay using their PayPal or Venmo QR code in the register, without commissions.

Google is making autofilling on Chrome for mobile devices more secure. The new auto-fill experience on mobile devices will use biometric authentication for credit card transactions.

Impossible Foods starts selling at Walmart and expands the distribution of its new sausage product - Impossible Foods will now be available in over 2,000 Walmart stores across the country.

The Astra rocket launch startup is ready for orbital test flight as early as Sunday - The startup was incorporated only three years ago and is building its rockets in Alameda, California.
