@ Speyer, Germany
December 2022
My second visit to the wonderful collection at the Speyer Technik Museum in Germany. Many of their larger aircraft have been configured for visitor access, a real challenge considering they are mounted on pylons. Here is the best seat in the house, the navigation station inside the glazed nose of an An-22, the largest propeller aircraft in the world. The An-22 was designed as a civilian and military transport aircraft for transporting loads of up to 100 tons into remote regions with no fixed runway. First flown in 1965 with just 68 airframes built, the An-22 fleet is now believed to comprise just four airworthy aircraft.
