There are not many things that I can’t live without but organic rosehip seed oil is one of them. Not to be confused with rose oil, (that’s made from rose petals not the seeds), rosehip seed oil is definitely one of my anti-aging must haves. Here’s the scoop.
Rosehip Seed Oil
The rosehip is the fruit of a type of rose plant that grows in South America, mainly Chile. The cold pressed oil from the seeds have been used for centuries by Chileans, Egyptians and Mayans because of its healing properties. I actually heard about this amazing oil from my neighbor and natural perfumer Rodney Hughes, who is also a licensed reiki therapist. (The man knows his oils). Rosehip seed oil helps with the following:
- Acne scars
- Pigmentation
- Sunburns
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dark spots
- Dry, itchy skin
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Dry and brittle hair
It has a high vitamin C content as well as lycopene, all are the ingredients necessary in cell rejuvenation and elasticity. You know all those expensive Vitamin C Creams on the market right now? Read the labels, they have rosehip seed oil in them. It also has mild sunscreen properties. Also, a little goes a long way. Since it’s a “dry” oil, meaning it readily absorbs into the skin, it won’t leave your skin feeling greasy.
