ANTI-AGING, ACNE FIGHTING SKIN CARE FROM PAULA’S CHOICE

Skincare has been big on my mind for the last couple of years. I have been on a mission to have the best skin I can at each stage of my life. For me, that means anti-aging along with trying to keep my skin clear. When I was given the opportunity to try the Paula’s Choice Resist line, I was super excited. Not only have I loved what I had bought myself and tried before, but this line had what I was looking for in one system!

This line was recommended to me after a consultation with a representative from the brand, so if you are not sure where to start with your skincare regimen I highly suggest contacting them for help to match your needs with products. Not everyone has the same needs, like Michelle from Mash Elle who was better suited to their Redness Relief line. While I don’t have any signs of aging yet (at least on my face, my hair is another story), I want to do what I can now to prevent premature aging. My other concern is acne, so they were able to find me a match in the Resist line.

This is a 5 step system, which sounds like a lot but it really didn’t take me a lot of time to incorporate. They make it easy for you too when you buy the kit, because it comes with information on the order to use the products plus stickers for labeling your products so you don’t have to remember what order they go in.

Step 1: Cleanser

Paula's Choice CLEAR Pore Normalizing Cleanser, Salicylic Acid Acne Face Wash, Redness & Blackheads, 6 Ounce

I use the Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser morning and night. It feels really gentle. The texture is hard to describe, like a creamy foam. It almost feels like a cream cleanser/foam cleanser hybrid. No tight dry face after use, yay!

Step 2: Toner

Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Pore-Reducing Toner for Combination and Oily Skin, Minimizes Large Pores, 6.4 Fluid Ounce Bottle

Now, I don’t use toner. Ever. I got used to using toners from the drugstore that dried the hell out of your face, so I gave them up years ago. To maintain the integrity of testing this system, I went ahead and used the Weightless Advanced Repairing Toner after cleansing morning and night. Happy to report it did not dry me out at all!

Step 4: Exfoliant

Paula's Choice-SKIN PERFECTING 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant & 2% BHA Liquid Duo-Facial Exfoliants for Blackheads Enlarged Pores Wrinkles and Fine Lines Face Exfoliators w/Glycolic Acid Salicylic Acid

There are two products for this step. The Daily Pore-Refining Treatment is a gentle daily exfoliant, and Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment is a more robust weekly exfoliating foam. The foam actually says on it to use at least weekly, so I like using it twice per week. Neither product irritated my sensitive skin, and I use exfoliant twice daily.

Step 4: Treatment

Paula's Choice CLINICAL Discoloration Repair Serum with Tranexemic Acid for Stubborn Dark Spots, Post-Acne Marks & Sun Damage, Paraben-Free & Fragrance-Free, 1 Fl Oz

This serum is really lightweight and just sinks into my skin. I have been applying the Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with a couple of drops of their Resist Vitamin C Booster. It’s anti-aging, fights wrinkles, and helps to shrink pores. I use this twice a day.

Step 5: Moisturize

Paula's Choice Omega+ Complex Lightweight Face Moisturizer, Shea Butter & Plant Oils, Brightening Vitamin C - For Dry & Sensitive Skin

OK, maybe a little too much but I also like to add a drop of vitamin c booster to my moisturizing step at night. There are two moisturizer, the Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator for night, and the Youth-Extending Daily Mattifying Fluid. Both offered great hydration without feeling greasy. The only issue I ran into was with the daily moisturizer, which broke me out. I highly suspect it was the SPF 50, as I have sensitive skin and SPF that high really irritates my skin. I started using the night time moisturizer day and night (with a separate SPF over it during the day), and that worked for me. I intend to try their Resist Super-Light Daily Defense SPF 30 in its place, as that sounds like my skin will tolerate it better.

I’ve been using this system for a few weeks now, and my skin seems to really like it. Despite using a twice-daily toner and exfoliator I am not getting the red dry patches on my face I have gotten in the past from other brands, and look forward to the long term results of the Paula’s Choice Resist line
