The new abstract paintings I am working on are in a slim vertical format, which is leading me to patterns in rich color. I'm also making them into a series so they can be hung next to each other. My technique is to paint in small brushstrokes, working from darker reds on the borders to orange with yellow, parchment and white highlights in the center. Spots of cobalt green add interest and contrast.
