The nation has suffered another mass shooting. This one was in Virginia Beach, where a utility worker for the city entered his workplace and began shooting. Eleven people lost their lives and another six were wounded.
This is a good time to remind you that the Democrats in the House of Representatives passed a bill to close the loopholes in the gun sales background check law -- something wanted by about 90% of all Americans.
But that bill has been blocked in the Senate by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell has refused to bring the House bill to the floor for debate and a vote.
As far as I'm concerned, McConnell (and other Republicans who won't force him to bring the bill to the Senate floor) have the blood of these eleven victims on their hands.
I don't know if that law would have prevented this shooting, but we know it would prevent many mass shootings by making guns much harder to get. The refusal to pass this law is unconscionable. McConnell and his fellow Republicans have shown us that they care more about money from the NRA and gun manufacturers than they do about the lives of innocent citizens.
