(This image of Donald Trump and Roger Stone is from CNN.com.)Donald Trump is not a competent person. In fact, he has failed at most things he has tried -- both in business and in politics. But there are two things he's very good at -- lying and hypocrisy.
Back in 2016, Donald Trump had a very low opinion of anyone who took advantage of their Fifth Amendment right to avoid testifying. He said:
“The mob takes the Fifth. If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment? . . . I think it’s disgraceful.”
Of course, he was talking about Democrats back then. It seems that he has a very different opinion when the person is an Republican associate. This week his longtime political ally has pled the Fifth Amendment to avoid testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Trump's response was:
"Nice to know that some people still have 'guts!'"
Trump is very happy to see his friends and fellow Republicans use their constitutional rights. It's only Democrats (and mafia members) who he believes should not have those same rights.
Donald Trump has taken hypocrisy to new and dizzying heights.
