Anonymous promises a LulzXmas festive season

An ominous warning from Anonymous.

Hacker collective Anonymous have been in the news pretty much throughout 2011. Their audacious and illegal denial of service raids (and more sophisticated hack attacks) on high-profile governmental and corporate bodies ranging from Sony to the CIA have been one of the most significant technology stories of the year.

Now a  video allegedly produced by a member of the shadowy group (which claims to have no leaders) offers a rare insight into their collective mindset. The video offers their retrospective of a tumultuous year in the world of anarchy and subversive activism. The video is peppered by warnings to their opponents and a promise that they’ll be ramping’s up their operations in 2012: “Epic year in’t it. And it is just the beginning. please fasten your seat belts for this LulzXmas.”

Mashable said the video is “a complicated … montage of mayhem, where the group’s point of view doesn’t exactly come into sharp focus, but you can get an idea of what sort of year some of its members think we’ve just gone through … Anonymous has certainly enshrouded itself in mystery and foreboding.”
