Anna Paquin was originally to star in the latest in the X-Men franchise, but as we reported earlier, her scenes were pretty much cut from the film. However even though most of the Rogue scenes were cut from ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ it looks as though the Marvel mutant will appear on the Blu-ray edition’s extended cut.
Ever since Anna Paquin was rumoured to be involved with ‘Days of Future Past, X-Men fans have been dying to see the return of Rogue. But while her big action sequence eventually fell to the cutting room floor, it looks as though we may get to see it after all… on Fox’s Blu-ray release of the recent ‘X-Men’ movie.
According to ‘X-Men’ producer Lauren Schuler Donner, Rogues scenes (which were completely edited out of the theatrical cut) will appear in an extended Blu-ray version of the film.
Of course, details of Rogue’s added little sub-plot were recently revealed by writer, Simon Kinberg… and we can’t wait to see how it pans out on screen.
“The Rogue sub-plot was originally there because I wanted a mission for the older Charles and Eric to do,” he said. “Something like Unforgiven – two last gunslingers, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman.”
Explaining that kitty Pryde struggles to keep Wolverine’s consciousness in the past, it looks as though Charles and Eric are forced to set off in search of someone who can take her power from her.
“They needed something stronger or someone who could take over her power,” he said. “Rogue could be the McGuffin of that mission. They’d have to get Rogue out of some dark scary place, and that’s what happens.”‘
For Anna Paquin fans, this is bound to be a huge bonus. And we can’t wait to see how future Rogue handles herself.
