Among our favorite place's to visit at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is Animal Kingdom - we love the animals, shows, and attractions. And, now they're getting for a new adventure at Animal Kingdom; Pandora – The World of Avatar that opens May 27. We've heard how the all-new land will immerse us in a mystical world of massive floating mountains, bio-luminescent rain forests and breathtaking new experiences. And, we can't wait for opening day!
We watched over time as Animal Kingdom's crew constructed Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain - a amazing roller coaster! Now, we anticipate the opening of Pandora - the largest addition in the history of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The idea behind Pandora is to continue the park’s tradition of celebrating the intrinsic value of nature, transformation through adventure and a personal call to action.
We're sure the Imagineer's have been hard at work to create the lush world of Pandora. We look forward to a night time visit too when the land is rumored to transform to glow by night when bio-luminescent flora and intricate nighttime experiences add a dreamlike quality to Pandora.
“We are taking our guests on a journey to this world in an experience that’s as realistic and immersive as possible,” says Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative executive. “In the movie, the world of Pandora is a setting for the action and characters whose story we follow. Here, guests are the primary characters immersed in an extremely vivid, authentic experience.”
Within Pandora there are the mountains that appear to float in the sky, and waterfalls cascading down the mountainside into meandering streams and pools. The new additions include Avatar Flight of Passage that is a exhilarating, wind-in-your-face experience on a winged mountain banshee over the awe-inspiring world of Pandora. Imagine actually feeling the banshee breathe beneath you as you soar through the forest and past floating mountains.
Catch Up On The Story Of The Na’vi
You have plenty of time before Pandora opens to find the record-breaking box-office hit, AVATAR, by oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron, and watch it before your visit.
After you're done watching the show you'll be prepared for the other new addition, which is the family-friendly Na’vi River Journey, where you'll travel down a sacred river deep into a bio-luminescent rain-forest. The eight-seat reed boats float past exotic glowing plants and Pandoran creatures into the midst of a musical Na’vi ceremony. The mystical journey culminates in an encounter with a breathtakingly realistic Na’vi Shaman of Songs who is deeply connected with Pandora’s life force and sends positive energy through her music into the forest.
Both, of these attractions will be a must-see on everyone's list when they visit the Animal Kingdom so be sure to get in line early.
