Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie continues to captivate audiences with her timeless appeal. Recently, the 49-year-old actress achieved a significant milestone by winning her first Tony Award.
Joining her on stage was her 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, marking a special moment of celebration. Both were honored for their roles as producer and producer’s assistant, respectively, for their work on the acclaimed musical “The Outsiders.” The duo gracefully accepted the Tony Award for Best Musical, elegantly dressed in matching outfits – Angelina in a stunning teal gown and Vivienne in a chic suit. Matthew Rego accepted the award on behalf of the entire team, standing alongside them.
In a notable decision, Vivienne recently opted to omit her father Brad Pitt’s surname from “The Outsiders” playbill, following in the footsteps of her older sister, Shiloh, who also legally removed Pitt from her last name.
This gesture underscores the unwavering support Angelina receives from her children, amidst Brad Pitt’s soaring career achievements. Angelina herself produced the successful film celebrated at the recent awards ceremony, where she also performed the musical number “Tulsa ’67” live on stage.
Reflecting on the enduring relevance of “The Outsiders,” Angelina remarked, “[S. E.] Hinton wrote The Outsiders in high school, and half a century later, it still speaks to us. Society changes, but the experience of being an outsider is universal.” She encouraged all viewers, especially young individuals, to embrace their uniqueness and strive for their dreams.
“The Outsiders,” a stage adaptation of the classic novel, garnered an impressive 12 nominations, making it the second-most-nominated production of the year after “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Stereophonic,” both with 13 nominations each.
