Anemone ranunculoides ‘Pleniflora’ is a deciduous herbaceous perennial with a mat forming habit. Its mid green leaves are divided into up to five toothed and lobed segments, up to 10cm broad and long and appear in spring and die down during the summer months. Its yellow double flowers are solitary, up to 1.5cm across and usually appear before its leaves. Its roots are rhizomes which aids its spread.

The Species Anemone ranunculoides, commonly known as Yellow Anemone, Yellow Wood Anemone or Buttercup Anemone, is native to much of Europe (excluding the UK and Ireland). In its native habitat it grows in deciduous woodlands and scrub. Anemone ranunculoides ‘Plenflora is synonymous with Anemone ranunculoides ‘Flore Pleno‘.

The etymological root of the binomial name Anemone may be a derivation of the Hebrew word for Adonis.Ranunculoides is derived from the Latin meaning ‘like the Ranunculus genus’.

The Royal Horticultural Society has given the species Anemone ranunculoides ‘Pleniflora their prestigious Award of Garden Merit in 2012.

Anemone ranunculoides ‘Pleniflora’ prefers moist, humus rich, fertile, well-drained soils. It tolerates most pH of soil. It dislikes dry soils.

Anemone ranunculoides ‘Pleniflora requires little maintenance.
