Ride’s Andy Bell has shared ‘Love Comes in Waves’ ahead of the release of his debut solo album ‘The View From Halfway Down’ on 9 October. Engineered by former Oasis bandmate and mastered by Heba Kadry, Andy says ‘I’ve always wanted to make a solo album, I’ve always said I would do it, although I never imagined it happening like, or sounding like, this one. I’d been sitting on this pile of almost finished tracks, along with all the other hundreds of ideas that had fallen by the wayside since I’ve been making music. Lockdown gave me the opportunity to find a way to present it to the world.’
The first single is a kaleidoscopic and optimistic five and a half minutes that finds Andy reflecting on the power of love and connections with others – something we’ve all learned to embrace even more over the past few months. Over a shoegazey-meets-Stone Roses – with a healthy dose of psychedelia thrown in – sound, he talks about how lost nights can be ‘found in days of volume, fuzz and delays’ and tells the listener that if ‘you’re missing the feeling of connection, a reflection back from above, you’re ready to ride the first wave of love’.
