Ron Burgundy is San Diego’s top anchorman in the male dominated place in the 70s but when Veronica Corningstone is hired and quickly becomes an anchor everything is about to change!
I had never actually seen this film until this morning as figured I better watch it before going to see the second one this afternoon. I had seen odd parts of the film and thought that it wasn’t really for me. I was spot on with that really, it’s just not my sense of humor. I laughed a couple of times, but most of it I didn’t get why it was funny. I guess this happens a lot with comedy films and even more so when they end up having a cult following.
Ron Burgundy does not take kindly to Veronica becoming part of the news team with the fact that she is a woman. He is intimated by this and tries all different ways to wreck her career, despite the fact that he also fell in love with her. Which really creates so awkward to watch scenes, although the erection scene was probably the funniest in the film for me!
I have never been the biggest Will Ferrell fan hence why I had not seen this film before and it backs my thoughts on his not actually being that funny. Sorry to anyone who loves this film I just don’t understand the humor. I’ve seen it said that it is one of the most quoted films ever as well. I mean I couldn’t easily see which quotes you would like to use in everyday life from this one?
I guess that’s another reason I should stay clear of comedy films as never a big fan of them. I think with all the hype surrounding this I was really expecting something more from it. If anyone can explain what is so good about this film I would really appreciate being told what exactly that is, as I couldn’t even work it out whilst watching it. It just seemed to go from stupid to silly and then to just downright dumb and I didn’t appreciate that at all. None of the characters are likeable either so just didn’t do anything for me at all.
Anyone care to explain the hype surrounding this one?
