The Daily Constitutional's editor Adam writes…
This is an odd blog post for us, but the subject caught our eye on Facebook. I have been moved to share this story as a keen photographer – I feel sure that at least David and Fiona among the camera-toting London Walks guides will empathise with the plight, as well as a great many of our London Walkers. Here we go…

On Friday 20th June 2014, our house in London E18 was burgled between 1pm and 2pm. It happens to a lot of people. We lost computers, jewellery, clothes, shoes, ties - the usual haul for opportunist thieves. However, several things of huge sentimental value were stolen, including my grandfather's gold watch and my mother's engagement ring. They're irreplaceable. I realize that happens to many people too.

However, the one thing that is really distressing is the loss of my father's camera equipment. He was a professional photographer, and he died back in 1962. The only thing I had left of his was his camera and accessories. Everything is gone - camera, case, lenses, exposure meters and camera bag.
