This week has been s surprisingly quiet one for us. I've found myself looking for more 'down time' at home with Isabelle, rather than being out and about so much, and we definitely managed to achieve that this week. There aren't any days when we don't leave the house at all - we at least go to walk the dogs - but this week we managed to find a bit more time together at home rather than being out and about quite as much as usual.
Isabelle is walking everywhere now - still either cruising along the furniture, with her push-along walker or holding on to a hand (just one now!). She did take her first unaided steps during the week - but just one each time, so we aren't getting too excited yet! She wants to be up and walking, or at least on her feet, all the time, so I've found she is almost happier at home at the minute as it's easier for me to let her zoom around the house, and I don't have to restrict her and worry so much as I do when we are out.
Her new favorite thing to do is look in the baking cupboard. She heads straight for it in the kitchen, and particularly loves the bottle of orange squash, and the tub of raisins, which she insists she gets one of each time.
We've been playing in her bedroom a lot this week too, and she has been cruising up and down her cot, and using the bars to help her practice her walking. Her confidence is still pretty low in standing and stepping unaided, but she has really come on in leaps and bounds this week, and can easily stand by herself, and bend down to touch something too. She does prefer to hold a hand all the time though!
You can tell it's been a quiet week as Isabelle has been in babygros for most of it! We've also been testing out all our little hair clips this week - Isabelle's hair is getting so long now, and it had constantly been falling in her face, and I was constantly flicking it back. I thought I'd hate putting clips in her hair - it's not 'me' at all - but as with so much about having a daughter, I have found myself surprised by how much I've enjoyed the girly aspect! She looks adorable, of course, and it really does help keep her hair from her eyes. The other side of her hair is still totally wild, but at least it isn't in her way.
Of course, we were still out and about plenty - we met with the Cloth Nappy Library for the monthly get together in Ikea which was packed, and great to catch up with everyone. Lots of new, tiny babies appeared at our breastfeeding group (which just served to highlight to me how big Isabelle is getting!) and we enjoyed 'Rock n Roll' week at Baby Sensory. We also went swimming with her daddy, and spent time with her great-granny and her cousins - whom she adores.
That doesn't sound much like a quiet week, but it honestly was! At home we played with some spaghetti (post coming soon!), made a list of birthday presents, played with our music center a lot, and walked up and down, and round and round endlessly!
Hopefully, as the weather improves, we'll spend even more time at home, and will eventually even get out in to the garden to play! Roll on next week...
