Glimpse to the World of Virtual Reality

The Hype Cycle of Futuristic Technologies!

No matter how vital is the technology of the virtual reality pertaining to entertainment areas in the near future, it is more prominent to be best paired with the domains of medicine, engineering, design, communication, arts, education and business.

In the mid 90s, Virtual Reality was a witness very common almost everywhere. Starting right from the game systems of Ninetendo to movies of Hollywood and to the songs of Jamiroquai; if not all of it, but at least the concept was there. However, the machines associated with the Virtual Reality collapsed, in practice. Restricted by the crude processors and the slow motion tracking of the sensors, engineers then could not deliver the genuine experience of transporting. Virtual Reality seemed to witness a dead-end by then.

But, in the year 2012, a start up campaign by Oculus managed to drive US$2.4 million in just a matter of few days. After two years, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook made an announcement of t his company taking over Virtual Reality of Oculus for US$2 billion.Further, at present, Sony and Samsung are coming up with their own VR headsets, and the founder of Oculus, Palmer Luckey is in the vogue of Wired.

Virtual Reality assures the drastic transformation of movies, music, TV, gaming, sex, design, medicines, sports, travel, education, art social networking and of course, the reality. This surely might sound as the most extraordinary fable of technology that underwent a striking fall from charm, laid smoldering years and then made an unbelievable come back to the edge of glory.

Yet, it is truly said that if an appropriate justice has been done to the promise held by the technology, it never dies. Even after the downfall show or peer market pressures, engineers continue with the process of sustainability and rework on it. They gain a more positive and realistic perception from their losses and learn from their mistakes to modify the strengths of technology and overcome limitations. The idea gets resurfaced to achieve an acceptance in the mainstream. This is termed as ‘the hype cycle’ by the vice president of Gartner- Jackie Fenn.

Hype moves at a greater pace than progress. It might take a few months to embrace the public in mainstreams, but with the outreach of social media, sooner or later, it surely does. As in case of the virtual reality, take a glimpse of a crowded room, and you will not come across the sight of a bunch of people putting on the VR headsets. Instead, you will see them peer out into the tiny screens, through which they step in the digital lives well stocked with remote colleagues, usernames, virtual friends and avatars.

No matter what the current scenario is; one thing we know for sure is modern world’s futuristic trends of technology will witness setbacks. They will work unplanned and expectation of an immediate revolution is vague. But, still this will not spell the death of wearable technology.
