An Exclusive Look at Intel’s Wild Gaming Laptop Prototype

Posted on the 30 May 2019 by Katy Perry
After the world witnessed the first foldable phone in 2019, it is time for some laptop revolution. Read about Intel’s dual-screen gaming laptop in this article.

The Verge got a chance to see Intel’s Honeycomb Glacier which is a prototype for a next-generation gaming laptop featuring two screens.

Intel, worlds best chipmakers are not restricted to chip making. Intel invests a lot of capital building new markets by understanding the consumer and their requirements for their next laptop and collaborate with Laptop brands to make it possible.

This time it is a dual-screen laptop made for gamers. Intel’s Honeycomb Glacier is a 15.6-inch 1080p first panel and a 12.3-inch 1920 x 720 secondary screen — in a way that complements, instead of distracting from, their games.

Dual-screen Gaming laptop! Another benchmark for tech enthusiasts.

Similar to foldable phones, this laptop will be able to fold itself to offer you two screens. There is a push button on the side to make the screens fold and open. Majorly, there have been a lot of concepts for dual-screen. However, we feel this is a great vision and future for next-generation gaming laptops.

One of the critical benefits Intel is trying to address through Honeycomb Glacier is multitasking; the lower screen can be utilised to work on a sperate project altogether. So, if you don’t want to miss out on a group chat while playing games, this will be a dream gaming laptop.

This feature saw the light because of adding Tobii Eye Tracking camera to the laptop, and as the hinge will be at the eye level, you can easily gaze on the secondary screen to do other work as well.

This prototype even has an evolved design concept.

As we mentioned, this is just a prototype and used shelf components to make it. There is a lot of scope and time before these hit the market to impress the gaming world. Intel has always been chasing wild possibilities with laptops. They introduced the Ultrabook and it was an instant success after a PC manufacturer saw an opportunity in that segment.

As per Verge, they had a sleeker and compact version for the same prototype but sadly was not functional. They believe that it could be possibly the design that they are trying to crack for the final product as it is more relevant and functional for the consumers.

The software on the device was on its early stages so surely had some bugs but the way it is being developed, this will make a lot of things easier for people who love multitasking while playing a game.
