An easy to make hand-tied bouquet

Hand-tied bouquets make fantastic gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, congratulations, and any other occasion. Since every home usually has at least one vase, you might not find it necessary to include a vase with your flower delivery. This is particularly the case if you are sending flowers to your wife or partner and you know for sure that they already have several in their collection.

You will need: Method:
  • The number of flowers you need depends on the size of the bouquet you'd like to create.
  • Each of your stems will need to be trimmed and conditioned before adding it to the bouquet so it's best to do so before you begin and make sure that you keep all of your stems in water while you work. This will prevent your flowers from dehydrating.
  • Start with a stargazer lily in the centre and place a stem of phlox on either side.
  • Add a stem of bupleurum between the two phlox stems.
  • Now add four stems of waxflowers and make sure that they are evenly distributed around the bouquet.
  • Add another two stargazer lilies on either side of the bouquet along with four bupleurum stems, four lysimachia stems, three phlox stems, and four waxflower stems. Add another three phlox stems and two pittosporum stems to complete your design. For a larger bouquet, simply increase the quantities of each stem.
  • Use ribbon, raffia, or a similar item to tie the stems together. Make sure that you trim all of the stems to the same length once you're done.
  • When presenting this bouquet to a loved one, they can simple cut or untie the ribbon and put them in a vase.

This method can be used to create a variety of bouquets - depending on the types of flowers you choose. The key is to use your largest flower in the middle and surround it with other, smaller flowers and foliage. You should also add a few of those larger focal flowers to other parts of the bouquet in order to give it that perfect, full appearance.
