A stopover
About half an hour later, A picked me up at the gate and said he had a 2-minute thing to do, en route. Now, we have a big joke going about this, since A’s en route stuff can take anything up to half an hour. and I would be left making excuses to the autorickshaw driver. I glared at him and reluctantly agreed, but I was secretly okay with it since I was getting a ride home anyway. Also, I had an engrossing book to read.
When I asked A what his “something” was, he sheepishly admitted he had an appointment with his astrologer. I laughed. My family believes in all that, you know, and for the most part I go along with it, but I can’t say I’d depend on something like that. I belong to the school of thought that says the harder you work the luckier you get. We reached the venue and I settled down in the lobby while A went into the guy’s office to meet him.
In fifteen minutes I saw the door open and the astrologer ushered A out. I shut my book, smiled at them and got up to leave, when the astrologer beckoned to me to join him in the office. I had an attitude back then and tossing my hair, told him I wasn’t there to consult him. He said he knew, and insisted I join him for five minutes. A stage-whispered to me to go, and exasperated, I went.
Not everything needs an explanation
I sat and looked at the astrologer with, well, a half smile and a be-quick-about-it-I am –anyway-not-going-to-believe-you kinda expression. The clock ticked in silence and I slowly got annoyed, watching him make notes as he looked at me intermittently, pensively. Then, he leaned forward, and telling me to listen carefully, started talking. I listened. Later I learned he was also a face reader. What can I say? His words wiped the smile off my face and had me listening intently.
This was 28 years ago (yes, I am a fossil). I am still stunned by what he had to say. When I stepped out, A pestered me, wanting to know what the astrologer said, and I told him, then promptly forgot about it. A is still one of my closest friends, and he rejoices in reminding me about that day, and the various life events that have happened since, as predicted.
Recently, A called me on my birthday and we were laughing over old times. We remembered the astrologer and A taunted me about how all the things the astrologer said had come true. By the way, that astrologer was a big shot, consulted by celebs and bigwigs from all over the world. May his soul rest in peace.
Back to the present
So imagine my surprise when Kathleen Helms (Kate to her friends) of Mystic Tarot: Guidance For Life offered to do a reading for me. I met her through Vanita Cyril of After Bedtime blog basically because I am thinking of a site revamp and Vanita rocks. I was also drooling at Kate’s design.
Now Kate is a psychic intuitive. She has been reading Tarot Cards for over 35 years. Take a look at her site: Mystic Tarot: Guidance For Life Kate emailed me with the details, saying that she would do the following for me:
- A personalized Tarot Card Reading
- Custom Name and Day Of Birth Analysis
- Personalized Bio-charting
Why I accepted
Okay, here’s the thing that spoke to me in Kate’s email: eventually we have the power to make our own destiny. What we say, what we do, have the ability to affect the things we can’t control. Kate’s cards are basically a nudge to set us thinking – usually in the right direction.
When I read my "reading", I was thrilled. Not because everything looks good, but because of the honesty with which Kate read my cards.
The bio charting presented problems for me – Kate had marked the lines in different colors and I couldn’t differentiate them (I am colorblind). When I told her, though, she solved the problem for me by labeling them instead. And by the way, I am marking the good-day-bad-day on a calendar just to see how it matches up with Kate’s reading. So far, she is right on track.
Her reading gave me some insight into a few things that are going on in my mind at this time and I am happy to say I was pleased to see the clouds clearing in my head. And oh, Kate keeps in touch throughout the reading, which happened for me over three or four days. She kept on encouraging me to ask questions – I didn’t have too many, since her reading was pretty comprehensive.
And? Her reading matched what that astrologer said, all those years ago.
Kate is gifted. She also makes superb embroidered Talisman Cloths using the information from your analysis, together with your faith, culture, etc - you can see the gallery here
And here is my Talisman cloth, which Kate made for me:
Stunning, yes?
