On falling silent
I spent yesterday, along with some 570 other people, at the Christian New Media Conference. It was stimulating, challenging and exhausting in equal measure. Altogether there were a lot of words – spoken, heard, projected and tweeted. When I wasn’t speaking I was listening. When I was listening I was tweeting or taking notes – sometimes at the same time! Today is a day for fewer words…
As a communicator, I love words
Sometimes I strap them to the soles of my shoes like snow shoes so that I can cross the thin ice of uncertain argument.
Sometimes I tip them out into a child’s ball pool and plunge my arms in up to the elbows to see what comes out.
Sometimes I build them into towers, minarets and castles so that I can lie down and see how the sky looks through them.
Sometimes, like today, I set them aside and savour the eloquence of silence.
