Amy Millan has shared ‘Make Way for Waves’ ahead of the release of forthcoming solo album ‘I Went to Find You’ (out on 30 May, 2025 via Last Gang Records). Starting life as a Stars demo, the song is a collaboration between Amy and the album’s co-writer and co-producer Jay McCarrol.

Describing how the song has always had a special place in her heart, Amy says: ‘Lyrically I was seeking to articulate how difficult patches in life can influence you to blow it all up or throw in the towel. I was clinging to the idea that with some patience and reflection maybe calmer waters eventually return like the cycle of the moon. Mourning time passing is a right of passage, and the forlorn can make a beautiful hook. Trying not to let fear find a home in my heart.”

As beautiful and touching as Amy’s description, the synth-drenched song captures the broken-hearted spirit of Wild Pink and mixes it with the fragility of London Grammar as she declares: ‘We might have been lonely, we don’t want another worry. Just wait, we could be motion’.
