These charts represent what the Rasmussen Poll has found regarding views on global warming (global climate change). The most recent survey was done on May 31st and June 1st of a random national sample of 964 voters, and has a margin of error of 3 points.
It shows that a substantial majority of 65% of the public now considers global warming to be a serious problem -- and a significant plurality believe it is caused by human activity. People are starting to worry that we are going to be leaving our children and grandchildren a world much worse than the one we inherited. This brings up the question -- why aren't our political leaders trying to do something about it?
Sadly, the reason is that Republican congressional leaders long ago sold out to the giant corporations, and now put corporate interests above the interests of U.S. (and world) citizens. Corporations know that doing something about global warming would mean they would have to spend some money to clean up their act. And while they would still be making a substantial profit, they aren't willing to give up a penny off their bottom line. As we should have learned by now, corporations don't have a conscience -- only a bottom line for profit.
We are close, if not already at the point, to where it will be too late to take action to prevent the worst ramifications of global warming. We must take action now -- and since the Republicans consider corporate profits more important than protecting the earth, they must be voted out of power as soon as possible.
