Story: American Carnage starts when Governor Harper Finn (Cullen) issues an executive order to arrest every undocumented immigrant. JP (Lendeborg Jr) and his sister Lily (Morales) are one of the families taken. Despite Lily just getting accepted into college.
JP is offered a chance to get early release, when he teams up with other teenagers Camila (Ortega), Big Man (Maldonado) and others. They are assigned to help the elderly in a volunteer program, but the home isn’t what they were expecting.
Verdict on American Carnage
American Carnage is a horror comedy that takes a dark disturbing turn. It follows a new law meaning undocumented immigrants must be detained. They have a chance of freedom, if they agree to help in another program with the elderly. However, not everything is what it seems and it becomes a race to survive.
This is a surprisingly disturbing movie considering it is sold as a horror comedy. It tackles a political opinion that can have irreversible side effects for everyone involved. While it is quite a big spoiler to chat too much about what happens inside the nursing home, you will find yourself comparing it to another movie with a similar set of actions. This is one you should be checking out as by the end you will be shocked. The cast is also amazing with the increasingly popular Jenna Ortega stepping into a different role from any of the others she has done before.
Final Thoughts – American Carnage is a disturbingly dark movie.
