Ambridge Women’s Institute Get Ready for Red Nose Day

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

Stalwarts of Ambridge Women's Institute, Jill Archer (Patricia Greene), Jennifer Aldridge (Angela Piper), Lynda Snell (Carole Boyd) and Susan Carter (Charlotte Martin) from The Archers put on their pinnies to bake for Red Nose Day, celebrating the launch of the exclusive Red Nose Day aprons, designed by renowned fashion and portrait photographer, Rankin.

The apron features a selection of unique, quirky and quintessentially British animal portraits including Rankin's own dog. The apron, priced at £12.99, is available from HomeSense and TK Maxx stores nationwide. With at least £5 going to Comic Relief, the money will help people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and across Africa.

The HomeSense Red Nose Day range also features a new children's apron encouraging the whole family to join in the bake sale action by getting creative in the kitchen. The ladies of Ambridge WI want to inspire the nation to get out their baking trays, turn on their ovens and bake a difference while raising life-changing cash to change countless lives.

Jill Archer, the Matriarch of Ambridge WI said: "It's a real honour to be involved in such a tremendous cause and be a part of Red Nose Day. We hope the aprons will carry the Comic Relief message into tens of thousands of kitchens and help countless lives both here in the UK and in Africa. We're delighted the range features aprons for adults and children, inspiring the whole family to bake together and raise some dough."

Rankin said: "When I was asked to create this year's Red Nose Day exclusive collection for HomeSense I agreed without hesitation. It is a fantastic cause and I knew it would be a lot of fun. What you're seeing is some of the best talent in the animal business and, although I'm never one for nepotism, my own dog got on the team sheet. I wanted to make these images as cute and fun as possible and I hope I have included something for everyone which encourages both adults and children to get in the kitchen and raise some dough for Comic Relief."

Michele Settle, Director, UK Campaigns & Brands at Comic Relief said: "Baking is one of the most popular Red Nose Day fundraising activities across the UK and this exclusive apron by Rankin enables you to look stylish in the kitchen and raise money too. So make your bake matter for Red Nose Day 2017."

All profits from the sale of the aprons and the tea towel will be donated to Comic Relief to help transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people in the UK and around the world. The apron is available to buy from Red Nose Day official partners HomeSense and TK Maxx stores throughout the UK and online at tkmaxx.com and rednoseday.com.
