Amazon Introduces Smart Commerce to Change Local Stores into Digital Dukaans.

The e-commerce company Amazon India has launched Smart Commerce which is a brand new initiative to convert local shops into Digital Dukaans and speed up its commitment to digitize one million small enterprises in 2025. More than 1.5 lakh stores in the neighbourhood are already selling on Amazon.

Through Smart Commerce, stores can digitally manage their offline operations and offer a better in-store shopping experience to customers. They can also create an online shopfront to assist customers directly. Businesses of all sizes can now benefit from Amazon’s innovations in logistics, shopping and payment options via digital. This will allow them to provide customers with a safe and secure experience. Customers.

“Smart Commerce will enable any store to truly become a digital dukaan,” declared Amit Agarwal, SVP, India and Emerging Markets, Amazon, at Amazon’s annual flagship conference Amazon Smbhav. “They can be prepared to provide customers with the very best of Amazon regardless of the location – its physical stores, directly via their storefront online, or even on Amazon. in. Smart Commerce will release its first set of products in the next few days. It will help local shops automate the management of inventory and billing and provide an improved customer experience in their stores. The next step will be the release of new capabilities that will allow stores to set up an online shopfront in moments and then serve their customers with a simple chat and voice shopping experience.

“Over the last two years, we have invested significantly towards the pledges we announced at the inaugural Smbhav Summit in 2020,” said Manish Tiwary, the country manager, India Consumer Business, Amazon India. “We have already digitized over 4 million small businesses and local stores, are on track to enable $5 billion in cumulative exports and have created over 1.16 million direct and indirect jobs in India, including 135,000 new jobs added in the last year.”

In the first Smbhav Summit in January 2020, Amazon pledged to digitize 10 million micro-and small-scale enterprises, produce $10 billion in total exports to India, and create 2 million new jobs for India in 2025. Amazon claims it is close to achieving its promises and exceeding them in some instances. Amazon recently increased its pledge to exports by doubling its commitment from 10 billion dollars to 20 billion within the same period.
