Amazed by You by Kelsey Browning is a 2015 Kicksass Creations publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This novella was originally published in the “Get Lucky” anthology box set which featured St. Patrick’s Day themed stories. Now, you can read Kelsey’s contribution to that anthology as a standalone.
Olivia, voted ‘most likely to succeed’, and Cody, ‘most likely to settle down’, were high school sweethearts, but Olivia couldn’t wait to shake the dust off of the crummy small town of Conrad off her feet and see the world. So, Cody’s plans to marry Olivia was an epic fail.
Ten years later, Olivia is a PA for a wildly popular erotic romance writer with agoraphobic tendencies, living under the thumb of her New York agent. When Olivia gets the idea of holding a garden party for the author, she needs a landscaper ASAP, but is taken by surprise when small town Cody shows up in the big city of Houston applying for the job.
The chemistry between the couple is as hot as Habanero pepper, but Olivia remains very career driven and adamantly opposed to white picket fences and small town life. But, a fling with Olivia might be just what Cody needs to get her out of his system once and for all. But, will he be able to walk away from her and never look back?
I love second chance romance, small towns, and Texas, so this story appealed to me on many levels. Ms. Browning’s trademark humor is in rare form, and the insight into what it’s like to be an author in this current climate was spot on.
The best part of the story sees two people who belong together figure out that all you need is love and everything else will fall into place. Cody and Olivia are old enough now to take stock and start realizing what their priorities should be. True love will always find a way!
This story has only a slight reference to St. Paddy’s day, so it can be enjoyed all year round. This is a really cute, sensual story and is a lot of fun.
