Last week, I was SO EXCITED to attend the first SUMMER Altitude Summit Conference. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Alt Summit, it’s a premier business conference for pioneering bloggers.  In a nutshell, a bunch of creatives gather to share information about how to succeed as a business or blog.  It’s AMAZING!  It was also information overload – I learned so much and still trying process it all.

I thought it would be fun to give you a quick recap via pictures.  Here we go…

// TUESDAY //

Traveled from DFW–> SLC.  Arrived at The Grand America Hotel – old school gorgeous.  Then off to dinner with some new friends {Clarisa and Allison} including food bloggers {Becky of The Vintage Mixer, Sean of Punk Domestics, Kalyn of Kalyn’s Kitchen, and Letty of Letty’s Kitchen}.  You KNOW those are my kind of peeps. #iheartfood

// WEDNESDAY //

Was elated to meet the inspirational Joy of Oh Joy after her opening keynote talk.  AND met Marion of Marionberry Style and Annie.  Marion and I started blogging around the same time so it was like reuniting with an old friend!  Finished the day at the park with food trucks and street dancers.  Don’t you love those hats on the girl gang {Sarah, Lisa, and Emily}?! #iwantthosehats

// MY TOP THREE TAKEAWAYS //

  1. Be ready with an elevator pitch!  An elevator pitch is a quick 2-3 sentence description of what you or your blog is about.  I’ve known this FOREVER, but I’ve never really done it.  Usually when I introduce myself, I stumble and blah, blah, blah.  Creating an elevator pitch was homework after a great early bird session with Tiffany of RueRococo and Bethany of The Glamorous Housewife.  Get it done.  Practice in the mirror.  You’re golden!  {You can see my pile of business cards.  You meet so many people that it makes sense to have an elevator pitch.}
  2. Tricks for Instagram.  Thanks to the wonderful Sarah of Portraits to the People and Lisa of Zelma Rose, I have a few more iPhone tricks up my sleeve.  Take pictures in horizontal so you can crop for Instagram.  Use VSCO or Afterlight to edit pictures.  Try to keep the same “brand” throughout.  I’m still working on that one.
  3. Start rich pinning.  I had a f’ing BLAST during the Pinterest Strategies class with Alex of Ave Styles and Rachel of Handmade Charlotte.  {Did you see that used the word f’ing.  THAT’S how much fun I had!}  Rich pins are pins that include extra information right on the Pin itself.  It helps bring traffic to your blog.  I’m going to be honest here.  I am trying to figure out HOW to do this so I haven’t actually implemented it yet.  But it IS on my list of things to do!
  4. ALWAYS BE NICE!  That’s a given with anything.  I know I said three but THIS is a must!

Thanks Alt!  Can’t wait until next time!  Have you considered going to Altitude Summit
