Verdict on Alone in the Dark II
Alone in the Dark II is a horror thriller using the same name as the first movie. Although, it has no connection to the first movie. This time we see a group of people trying to fight an evil witch that uses a possessed dagger to take souls. It follows Edward as he must join forces with others to stop it take their souls.
This is a strange one because it erases everything that happened in the first movie, despite the first movie leaving us on a cliff-hanger. By recasting Edward it makes things even more confusing, could we not have just had another character from the universe being used? This ends up having an interesting idea just not brought together in the best way possible. The scares don’t give us anything to be made jump by and the threat ends up feeling easier to defeat. This feels weaker and you can see why we never got another one in the franchise.
Final Thoughts – Alone in the Dark II is a step down from the original, lacking scares or suspense.
