Amber Appleton somehow remains optimistic depsite a very unstable personal life, keeping everything hidden from even her close friends and attempting to chase her music dream to attend Carnegie Mellon.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amber is a very musically gifted high school student and balances her love from drama with her school work whilst also working long hours in a donut shop to support herself and her mother, Becky. She also spends time in a local retirement community mainly with Joan who is very pessimistic about eveything!

The frustrating parts of the story all come from Amber not wanting anyone to find out that her mother after suffering abuse from her latest boyfriend makes them both homeless and they end up pretty much living on a school bus, as thats where they had to sleep. The relationship is difficult to watch when Amber is working so hard and attempting to keep succeeding at school, then Becky is just not willing to do anything for her daughter. Even going back to an abusive relationship and leaving Amber to sleep outside when she refuses to go to Oliver’s house.

Without delving too deeply into the different changes in the plot, it is evident that one of the main points of the film is that if you treat people with respect and care, then they will do the same for you. This central theme resonates throughout the story, highlighting the importance of kindness and compassion in our interactions with others.

Furthermore, the film brings attention to the fact that people who are struggling don’t always ask for help and support. This can be attributed to various reasons, such as a sense of embarrassment or not wanting to burden others with their problems. The characters in the movie exemplify this struggle, depicting the internal conflict between their desire for assistance and their reluctance to admit their vulnerability.

By shedding light on this aspect of human nature, the film encourages us to be more attentive to the needs of those around us. It reminds us to be proactive in offering help and support, even when it may not be explicitly asked for. Understanding that individuals may be reluctant to reach out for aid, we can strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where people feel comfortable opening up and seeking the assistance they may require.

In summary, the film serves as a powerful reminder that treating others with respect and empathy can foster strong and positive relationships. It also emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing the struggles of others, even when they may not explicitly reach out for help. Through its exploration of these themes, the movie delivers a poignant and heartfelt message about the power of compassion and understanding in our lives.

If you think I watched this film because Carol Burnett was in it, then you are absolutely correct. She did not disappoint either, still a total acting legend! Auliʻi Cravalho was very impressive in the leading role though and gave Amber the characteristics that made
