All Dogs Go To Heaven: 35th Anniversary- A Don Bluth Classic
Quick Take: Kids these days. I really hope that cinematically minded parents are showing their children at least one Don Bluth classic. He brought so much to Animation, and if it wasn’t for him proving there could be viable competition for Disney, I’m not sure anyone else would have tried. This is one of my favorites from my childhood, and revisiting it was such a trip down memory lane. The track Amazon has is TTS, but now that they own MGM, they could always redo it. Burt Reynolds plays a scamp of a dog, who steals a second life so he can go back and reclaim what was taken from him after his partner kills him. It is a dark film, reminiscent of 1930’s gangster movies. The real tragedy here is the child actress lending her voice to the main little girl who can talk to animals, suffered a real life brutal fate. At least she lives on forever here, but she’s also forever young. She could have used that second life perhaps instead of Charlie. For more, check out the video.
