Aliens In Porto

By Gail Aguiar @ImageLegacy

There’s a tattoo artist in Porto named Hugo Sousa, aka aiem, who also makes street art around town in the form of aliens. This is his simplest work, but it never fails to make me stop in my tracks, especially the aliens with round heads on the pavement. I can’t even explain why I like his aliens so much, since I haven’t the faintest interest in comics or cartoons or science fiction. There’s just something very… universal and whimsical about these aliens.

Regardless of personal feelings about the prospect of alien life forms (if you’re out there, aliens, feel free to abduct the tyrants of Planet Earth), they are here to stay, whether in pop culture or sci-fi fantasies or the rendering of artists. Speaking of which, here’s a time-lapse video of Hugo creating a sidewalk alien:

You can see more of Hugo and his work in his Instagram or Facebook page.
