Alien: Out Of the Shadows by @timlebbon

By Pamelascott

As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man.

When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey. Hoop and his associates uncover a nest of Xenomorphs, and hell takes on a new meaning. Quickly they discover that their only hope lies with the unlikeliest of saviours....

Ellen Ripley, the last human survivor of the salvage ship Nostromo.

I'm a huge fan of the Alien movies. Seriously. I've seen them all many times. Ripley is sort of my hero. I've never read any books in the franchise though. I'm not sure why. I knew I had to get Alien: Out of the Shadows when I saw it was a free Audible show. This is the first in a trilogy and I can't wait to listen to the rest. First off, I'm gutted the narrator for Ripley isn't Sigourney Weaver. I love Sigourney and the narrator sounds exactly like her. I was all oh my God; they got Sigourney when I heard Ripley for the first time. I loved this audible show. Some pretty dark and scary shit goes down as you'd expect from Alien. There are some heart-in-throat moments. The narration is fantastic and I loved the special effects as well. Bring on book number two.
