Baghdad Bounedjah Goal

Algeria-Senegal- AFCON Final. From the first attack by Algeria, Baghdad Bounedjah recovered the ball to the left and armed himself with a powerful shot. Deflected by Sané, the ball took a surprising trajectory and lobed Gomis (0-1, 2nd)! The Algerians then suffered throughout the first half.

Senegal went on the attack quickly following the kick-off, but they were caught out at the other end shortly afterwards. Bounedjah’s long-range shot took a wicked deflection off Salif Sané and initially appeared to be missing the target. However, it then dipped into the net, catching goalkeeper Alfred Gomis off guard.

Passionate celebrations ensued for the Desert Foxes, who have already beaten Senegal in this tournament, triumphing 1-0 when they met during the group stage.
